Blessings and Lessons from 2007
I hope that your year has been great, filled with blessings, joy, peace, and love. It’s amazing how things in life teach us lessons about faith in God and trusting Him for EVERYTHING! This past year has surely been one of those years that I’ve learned to really kneel and pray, and put all my faith in God and Him Alone.
Most of you know that in January, I no longer worked for Pleasant View Inc in Harrisonburg, VA. After almost 7 years as an employee there, I still didn’t feel as if I were fulfilling what I was called to do. In short, the job started to be clear that it was not a good match for me. There were so many different views on things; my stress level sky-rocketed that I began to get sick more frequently, having persistent and increasing stomach issues, and weight loss. After talking to my folks, and leaving PVI, I decided to move back in with my folks and pray for a better job opportunity and a chance to get physically better as well as emotionally better. I looked for new jobs once I moved back with my folks in January, but at the same time, I took time to rest in order to feel better. I have to admit, though at times I felt abandoned, I was always encouraged by my parents, friends, and pastors to really put my faith and my trust in God. Lots of prayer was poured praying that I don’t get severely sick that I’d have to go to the hospital or doctor since I had no insurance. Most importantly, I prayed for God’s direction in my life in regards to what to do with a job and my life and how I can serve Him with my talents and knowledge God has blessed me with. During my job search and not working, God blessed me with over all good health (I didn’t get sick but just twice)! I was also able to utilize my “time-off” to go see my grandma for her birthday as well as Memorial Day weekend.
I continued to search and pray for jobs, and thankfully, continue to have “good” health as compared to when I was working at PVI. I interviewed at many places. The last week of May, God blessed me with a job at Region Ten Community Services Board in Charlottesville! Even though it took about six months to find a job, I know it was all in God’s timing and plan. He knew I needed a time to just get better before starting another job. Currently, I’m working at Region Ten as a Support Specialist for day support. It’s a Monday-Friday job (which I never had before). The other BIG blessing about this job it is located just “across” the other side of Rt 29 from where my Dad works! We are able to go to Charlottesville together and save on gas money! Dad’s boss let dad adjust his schedule so we can have the same work schedule! Praise God! Region Ten has several facilities all over C’ville area but the area I work is right near my Dad! It’s amazing how God works out even the smallest details. The job is going very well; I’m enjoying ever aspect of my job. My bosses are great and share many of the same views I believe in when serving people with intellectual disabilities. I can really say that those 6-months of not working, my faith was testing. I praise God for a wonderful job that I truly enjoy!
Shortly after my employment at RTCSB, a couple from my church and VERY dear friends were in a fatal car accident. It tore my heart to hear of David's death, but also rejoiced in the fact that Dave was a true testimony of living a life for Christ and loving God. It's a blessing to know that he is now worshiping his Father in Heaven and enduring no more pain that the present world gives all of us. It's a comfort and joy to know that Sharon, his wife is doing super well and continues to recover day by day. What a reminder to me that life is short, we know not what will happen in a year, month, day, or even minute! It was and sometimes still is hard for me to realize Dave is gone, for him and his wife were so caring toward me, yet I am comforted in knowing he is in a better place.
My niece celebrated her 2nd birthday in mid June; it is so fun to see her grow up and changes. Time flies by so fast, and soon she will be a big sister in February. I’m excited to have another niece or nephew, my parents are excited to become grandparents again, and of course my sister and brother in law are excited too!
In, September, my family and I went on cruise to Bermuda for a family reunion as well as my cousin’s wedding. I was able to take off to enjoy this special trip and it was very fun for all involved. From October to now, it’s been nothing but busy work at my job; we had several people who left so we have been short staffed and the current staff has been working extra hard on picking up the caseloads left behind. I still have my health issues, but it is better than it has been when compared to last year. We were able to celebrate Christmas with my sister and her family this week which was so much fun! Work keeps me busy so we weren't able to go see my grandma and relatives for the actual Christmas day, but hopefully the end of this week we are able to go see them in NYC!!
God is so Good and has richly blessed me this year! BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope you all have a great Christmas, full of blessings, God's love for you all and family fun! He is the Reason for the Season!
