A Year Ago Today.................

...........I started My job at Region Ten Community Services Board! PRAISE GOD!!
------> (My badge and entry card for work)
Okay, so technically my year is tomorrow June 1, but I'm counting the year as part of the work week, not weekend. It's so hard to believe that a year ago, God provided me with this job at RTCSB. After 6 months of unemployment I was offered the job as a Mental Retardation Specialist. It's a rewarding job and I enjoy it very much. Each day brings it's own delight and lessons and I learn things each day.
Reasons why this job rocks:
5. Watching my clients grow in their learning and conquer fears and disabilities is a great reward!
4. Great co-workers that I can be totally myself around (yet in a professional manner)
3. Monday-Friday work week; 8:30-4:30; NO WEEKENDS!!!!!!!!
2. ALL major Holidays off plus 3 floating holidays (11-1/2 regular holidays); NO WORKING HOLIDAYS ANYMORE!!! PLUS 10 vacation days and 10 sick days
....................and most important:
1. GREAT supervisors!!
- They are willing to listen and not pass judgment
- They take your suggestions to heart and really listen and do everything they can to make suggestions a reality
- They take time to talk to you and vise versa and not rush you off just because they have to be somewhere or leave at the punch out clock time
- Understanding: especially with me. Understanding why there are days I need off due to medical problems and encourage time off to recuperate and see doctors and do everything they can to work time off into the schedule
- Encourages team spirit and play
- Says "thank you" more than I've ever heard any employer say in my work life!
I pray that I will continue to grow in this job. I know helping people and especially working with people with MR is my calling in my life. It's something I enjoy and something I enjoy doing very much!
So, time flies....one year has pass; another on it's way...............what's next?
