A Change......
Today's kick-boxing class was really fun! I know I burned a lot of energy and calories. It's really a great way to "relax" and re-energized. After work, I went to the gym and kickboxed. Usually after kickboxing, I'm re-energized physically, but I'm still tired mentally from work. Anyhow, kick-boxing is fun, especially boxing to the rhythm of common pop music (I know "common" since we listen to it at work). However for the cool-down session I heard something different: I heard the sounds of familiar worship and praise songs! Including "As the Deer". During the cool down, I was closing my eyes, stretching my legs, arms, etc.....just basking the the glory of my Savior and God who provides each of us with daily breath to live, strength to endure the day, and means of taking care of our bodies (EXERCISE)! It was so cool to hear the sounds of wonderful sweet songs focusing on God. I thought afterwards, how many people exactly knew the tunes that was playing; and if they did, what did the words mean to them? No matter what or when the song is played, it has a deep meaning to it; each time it can minister to you in so many ways. Today, it ministered to me in a way when the song goes "As the deer panteth for the water, so my Heart longeth after thee" I thought as I was sweating buckets of sweat and extremely thirsty, how physically I long for that gallon of ice water to drink; but how more importantly, how my HEART should be longing for Christ each and every day. And it shouldn't be when my soul is thirsty for comfort, that's when I turn to the Bible; but rather, my soul should be constantly thirsty, every minute of every day; when I remind myself to have God be the focus of my attention and for Him to my only soul thirst quencher.
