Hussle and Bussle

I'm blessed to have a job so close to where my Dad works. He's used to the "long" commute over the mountain to Charlottesville. This past week, we've had to drive separately because Dad had to do quit a bit of overtime. When Dad drives home (and to work), I'm usually in the passenger seat, either taking a quick nap or just closing my eyes to take in the happenings of the whole day. I rarely ever pay attention to the surrounds while seated comfortably in the passenger seat. Well, as I was driving home by myself this week, I of course, had to pay attention to my surroundings. I was already going 70 mph (I rarely speed, but my mom's car is easily able to go over the limit, but not too much). Cars, trucks, 18-wheelers were ZOOMING past me like it was they where trying to race other cars or trying to reach a destination quickly. They were zooming past me, but in the end, we all get stuck in heavy traffic on top of the mountain, due to 18-wheelers deciding to take BOTH lanes as they were climbing the mountain; no one was going faster than 45mph for a good 5 miles or so! During the slower moving traffic, I was able to really grasp the beauty of driving over the mountain; seeing the valley from the scenic view, and looking at the beautiful nature that blankets the side of the road. What a refreshing breath to breathe and looking over God's wonderful glory.

It then reminded me that many times my life is full of hussle and bussle; hurrying around like I don't have enough hours in the day; so absorbed in my own deeds and life that I forget that it is by God's grace and will that I live and breathe this day! It reminded me of how I need to step away from the hussle and bussle of the world, slow down, and focus on God; focus on God's glory and greatness; and most importantly, focusing and spending time in God's Word, reading His Word, praying to my Father in Heaven; spending time in making sure my life is lived in glorifying God and that I'm living a life that shows God's love for all the see.
