My comfort Song

As most of you all know, I am headed for surgery next Wednesday, the 15th. I've been through countless surgeries at UVA since I was a baby; I've had shoulder and knee surgery at RMH in Harrisonburg, I've gone through countless doctor's appointments and such. People often tell me (or rather compliment) me on what bravery I possess and what strength I have to go through all this. My response is not just that "I'm used to it", but rather that my Father is the source of my comfort and care. Sure, every surgery brings it's own fear, but I know that God's hands is directing every aspect of my life and the hands of the doctors who take care of me.

Today in church, we sang one of my favorite songs. It's a comforting song to me knowing that I can rest in Jesus because of his Love. It's His Love that makes me whole, even though I'm physical not whole in this world. His love is broader then the sea; His Promises are to His people---to me. So, please share with me in this comforting song that I have learned to love and adore. Sometimes I even pray this song.

JESUS I AM RESTING RESTING

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Refrain

Thank you Lord for your unfailing love and promises that I can rest upon daily.
