Reflections on 2008

Has it really been a MONTH since I updated this blog? Honestly, I've been more addicted to facebook than anything else recently--bad me. Life's been good and busy; My camera broke over three wks ago so don't expect much pictures until I decide to buy a new one.

I can hardly believe that 2008 will be over soon. Soon it will be a brand new year; with new things to look forward to or endure. I've been thinking about things recently and I wanted to share some things. First off, I was reminded of God's graciousness and love to His people at my church's Christmas Eve service last week. We sang Silent Night; and as we were singing we lit on candle....which eventually lite every single candle in the sanctuary. It reminded me of how we are to be salt and light of the earth; we need to light our candle for the whole world to see and spread that light to the rest of the world. One flicker can do amazing things.

As 2008 ends and a new year begins I want to also share things that were significant to me this past year.

  1. My family and I started 2008 by visiting my grandma in NYC and celebrating the New Year with family
  2. In February, we had a new addition to our family; my niece Caitlyn was born Feb 1
  3. During the spring, we again went to NYC w/ my sister and her family to visit my grandma again; such sweet times with family
  4. June 1, 2008 marked my 1 yr anniversary of my employment at Region Ten. What a wonderful job and I'm so grateful for it!
  5. August was by far the toughest month for me. A dear friend of the family passed away unexpectedly; at the same day; a client of mine passed away; so it was a struggle for me for a couple of weeks to get back in the "mode". We also went to NYC again for my cousins wedding; I also had my 29th bday but we celebrated it late ........
  6. ...........in Sept by visiting OBX in NC. I asked to go vacationing here for awhile and an opportunity arose and worked out well for us to visit the OBX
  7. In Oct, I had another surgery on my face; I hadn't had one for 2 yrs and it was time for another one. Recovery was rough and tough; I had a to be placed on several antibiotics to kick the infections away; I was in the hospital from Wed -Friday, which really I was suppose to be there only one night
  8. In Nov we went again to NYC for Thanksgiving w/ my parents and my sister and her family. When we got home though, my mom, dad, and I got sick----really sick....for over 3 wks! ugh. We are okay now
  9. December was busy with shopping and preparing the celebration of Christ's birth.

It has definately been almost a month since you blogged last. How am I supposed to stalk you if you don't update??!! duh! :-)

  EIGHT  MONTHS---REALLY? Thankful for Pastors in our Midst----

It's past 2:45 AM and I'm still awake. I've been awake since 9a.m. without any naps which is unusual for me. I've been in my bed since 11pm and I can't seem to shut my mind off.  There's so much going on in my heart and my mind that I can't seem to just "turn off"  It has relatively little to do with the amount of physical pain I'm in tonight nor does it have little to do with upcoming medical procedures.  I just have a lot on my mind.  Some good things; some sad things; so praiseworthy things, some heart wrenching things, etc. Today for all you VA folks, know how blistering cold it was today; I have to be extra careful about not getting sick due to my low immunity; plus with my horrible pain scale today, I just couldn't make it to church.  I wanted to make it to either the early morning service or the Thanksgiving service my church had to night combined with the formal Installation Service of the official (should I say "dubbing??...

In My Need I Seek Your Help.......

There hasn’t been a huge change in things regarding my health since my last update/blog post.    My pain management doctor has tried a different form of non-steroid/non medication injection (for my abdominal pain) that seems to help some (to be explained later in the post).   It may need to take a few tries to see if this treatment works; that is, if I decide if I want to continue this kind of treatment.   As for my head pain and neck pain, my neurologist is doing all he can for now with medication therapy; and working along with my pain management doctor who is holding off other forms of treatment until he can slow down things with my abdominal pain.   In the meantime, I get some relief by going to my chiropractor/kinetic energy doctor in town.   I continue to be grateful for the doctors I have –those who are not giving up on me and trying very hard to try to find a solution to the cause of all this pain.   So far, my pain man...
