Playing Catch-up
So much has happened since my last post that I will just give a synopsis of my busy life and news and events.
First off, PT is going well. I'm still going once a week to once every other week. My therapist is really nice and thinks that because the copay for PT is high, I will be "OK" w/ just once a week or once every other week (plus the fact that I explained to her that taking off from work early is not an ideal situation because of my job, but more on that later). PT is rough, but it's helping my strength; however, I'm still sore. My follow up appointment with my orthopedic is next Wednesday, 27th. Mom is taking off work to take me to H'burg only because I already know I'm going to get another cortisone shot and I'll be too sore to drive or maneuver my arm. Hopefully we'll have some answers as to what's going on and more definite plans of attack......hoping and praying that he'll just advise to keep going on with PT.
Since my last update, I have also see my reconstructive surgeon on May 4th. They have discuss possible further surgery for June 18th assuming that Dr. G and Dr. H (my reconstructive and oral surgeons) can get their schedules together on time and insurance issues has settled. I have my work up/pre-op stuff on June 1 and by then I'll have a FULL report of what is all involved in this upcoming surgery. Right now, I know basically it's "reconstructing" my jaw to take out the wires and replace it with a better anchoring system, moving my right ear up and thinning the flaps in my ear and my lower cheek. Recovery time? I have no clue. I'll find out when I go back in 2 weeks. Needless to say, I'm in the process of filling out FMLA forms, etc etc. So far I have told my bosses as a "heads up" kinda deal, but not too many of my coworkers now about this yet. I probably will tell them a day or two before the big day; only because talk goes around the office and I really don't need this to be a topic of conversation because it will only put stress of me. My new bosses seems okay with the idea of my being out. I guess it will take time to get used to each other and for her to understand my various medical needs; but I pray that it will all work out in the end.
Which brings me to work.........WORK as always is busy. My office is in the process of changing things around (for the better) which I'm hoping will make everyone happier. We are all busy with caseloads and paperwork. ME? I'm trying to get all my caseloads new service year plans finished before I go on FMLA---which is making me a bit stressed......along with figuring out our company's new benefits plan. You know the drill: new insurance (medical, dental, vision), AFLAC, Flexible spending, Retirement (did you see that right??? YES you did!) etc etc! Yes, I'm already thinking about retirement and investing. Which is scary in a way, but I'm grateful I can do it so early and not really hurt financially for the present time. Oh, the joys of being a grown up and thinking of such important things in life!
We've been travleing to Richmond a bit this month; we are enjoying being able to help my sister out as she recovers from hurting her back/legs. I love being able to spend time with my nieces as well as help out in other areas as needed. It's a good way to relax and put my mind off work.
Ok that's a brief update on my life. I will update you all more as my dr apts are coming up!
