Surgery?

I had a pre-operative workup today at UVA. Originally, my surgery date was June 18th. Little did I know until TODAY that they moved up my surgery date to June 9---NEXT TUESDAY! The recovery period is hopefully not long and I can get back to work w/in 2 our 3 weeks. ......of course I had mentioned that I haven't gotten confirmation on my insurance, but I'm sure that will all work itself out (Dr. Gampper said they will make sure it is authorized). While I'm glad it's closer and I can get it over with sooner, it also means I'm crunching time for FMLA paper work to my employer! ah!!!!

My surgery will entail several things; and it will be at ASC at UVA (going home the same day!) They will do something with my jaw, thin out scars on my face at the same time thin out the excess tissue growth and such. They will move my right ear up and remove excess tissues inside my mouth. As far as recovery, I should be able to go home the same day and if all goes well, they think I can return to work no later than 3 weeks. Please pray that all will go smoothly. I'm very anxious in many ways as I always am when I face surgery; but it's not the first time and certainly will not be the last. I'm resting in God's love and his Hands.

In other news related to surgery, I may have to go through another one the end of the year. I went to see my orthopedic doctor last Wednesday (May 27). He d/c me on PT (yay) bc I have gotten stronger, but the pain is still there. From his assessment, he thinks that the only way to help my shoulder pain is to do surgery. He didn't say I had a tear, but he said it's possible. He is sure that the bones are "sharply rubbing against each other". That is, the shoulder bone and socket is rubbing against each other and rubbing against the tissues in the shoulder and clavical area. So, he wants to go in and "shave the bone down" as well as perhaps re-set the shoulder. He thinks this will work well and will help the pain bc he does feel some "abnormal" movements" in my shoulder.
Although this is a possibility, he told me I didn't have to have the surgery right at this time. I can choose to wait to the end of the year if I want; at the meantime I am allowed to go back to him for cortisone shots if I choose (yes, I still HATE needles, but in the long run, those shots do help).

So as you can tell, my stress level is above my head; work so far is going great and understanding an I pray that continues!

I continue to rest in God's perfect will.
