HAWAII
From September 5-12, our family (my Mom, Dad, Grandma, uncle, aunt, and cousin) went to Hawaii. It was a great trip! Mom, Dad, and I landed in Honolulu around 2:30pm Hawaii time (I think that's about 8:30 or so East Coast time). Anyhow, it was a LONG 14 hr flight. The layover to Hawaii was only 20 minutes from Charlotte to Phoenix (which the flight there was about 4 hrs long); and the layover from Phoenix to Honolulu was only an hr, w/ a flight of 6 hrs! The time in Oahu was wonderful; we were supposed to go to Mai, but it didn't work out because my grandma wasn't feeling well part of the trip so we decided to stay in Oahu the whole time. Here are some pics to share.........ENJOY!
Picture from the airplane of one of the Island in Hawaii.
Arrived at the Honolulu airport!!
At the Polynesian Cultural Center---the whole family!
This is the Diamond Back Volcano/Crater hike that my cousin and I hiked. It was a rough 760 feet high hike....very rocky and steep.....and I did fall a couple of times, but it was great to spend some time w/ just my cousin while the parents hanged out at the beach!
Half way up there!
Here is a picture of one of the 100 + steep stairs we climbed. The hike wasn't all stairs. Most of it was rocky steep paths!
View from the way top!!!!!! GORGEOUS...Marc and I made it!!! Whoo-hoo for my cousin and I!
Here is Marc and I at the top of the hike!!
Dad and I visited Pearl Harbor and the four sites: USS Arizona, USS Bowfin, USS Missouri, and the Pacific Aviation Center. There was a boat that took us to the site where the USS Arizona was bombed by Japan on Dec 7, 1942. It was really interesting to see. I love History so I love seeing things like this. A real Marine officer drove the boat that took us to the USS Arizona site. So....................
................I just HAD to get a picture with him :) Funny thing was that Dad and I were one of the last ones off the boat so I told Dad that I was going to ask the nice man if I could get a picture with him, after I had my turn, people started to line up to do the same thing.
The real main reason we went to Hawaii was to fulfill my Grandma's dream before she dies...she wanted to see her father-in-law's (my great grandpa's) tomb. My uncle wanted the same thing too. So here are some family pictures.

My great grandfather's grave. "Sim Le Lau"
Just for fun, this is a picture (to the left) of the ball field of the grade school Obama went to. My great uncle (the one who helped us find the grave and who helps us take care of great grandpa's greave) lives right across from Obama's grade school. My great uncle is VERY VERY conservative. It was interesting hearing him speak and such and learning a lot from him...full of wisdom and advice. I causlly said "cool, you live across from the school Obama went to" His response: "yes, it's cool, but Obama is not cool"....what do to but just LOL and agree!
My mom's second cousin and my mom and g'ma.
Finally some Beach Photos...........

No, we didn't build this dragon out of sand....we saw it on the beach and thought it was cool!
There are a lot more pic but these will do for now.
