stressful times...............
My 87 year old grandfather (my mother's dad) is in critical condition in the hospital in NYC. He is having a very hard time breathing and the doctor is doing all they can to help me feel comfortable. He is not a Christian. Because of Chinese beliefs and cultures, there has been some slight disagreement in the treatment options (mainly the fact should my grandmother sign or not a sign a DNR) that could be given to my grandfather. My grandmother wants everything done to help my grandfather, but my uncle's wife feels that we are torturing my grandfather to continue suffering by not signing any DNR forms. (Note: this has been my grandfathers 5th time in the hospital since September '09 with similar issues). My mom, dad, and I are trying to remain neutral and state our feelings of DNR (he is suffering and has been suffering very much...but we also believe that if it is God's will to let him live and get stronger that God can work in his heart) . It's a stressful situation and it is hard for us living so far away (my grandparents are in NYC). Mom is feeling the stress of whether or not she should go up there and if we do go up there to visit or "say our goodbyes" it will be extremely hard of me, just coming out of surgery 2 weeks ago and continuing with a lot of pain and fatigue.
Please pray for guidance in all the family members involved. Except for me and my parents, and sister and her family, no one is saved on mom's side of the family. Of course, my ultimate prayer is that he will be healed and that God will show Himself to him! My relatives are relying on their own "god" to work a miracle or to tell them what to do so that they won't get "punished" for making a wrong decision.
Right now, I am in no condition to make a trip up to NYC to see my grandfather; my mom may or may not make a trip up there this weekend. I have been in alot of pain and very low energy that my cousin and aunt (my mom's sister) told me not to come up unless it is for a funeral or something worse happens). It's been a rough recovery for me and if my mom is out of town it will be even harder for me to help dad get things done around the house (meals, cleaning, etc). l Please pray that all things will work out and that my mom doesn't have to make an emergency trip there this weekend; and that my new pain medication will begin to work and that I will feel like myself soon enough.
