Another turning point
I still have yet to become my 100% self. I still have days when I'm just plain worn out or have days I can only handle fluids. I have nights when I can't sleep and nights when I sleep the hours away and still feel tired the next morning. But all in all, I am getting stronger each day and my endurance for the days seems to last longer, depending on how strenuous the day was. For example, today I had to go over to the McCue Center Orthopedics at UVA for a pre-op; after that, we had to go to PATC (Pre-anesthesia testing center) to prepare for my surgery on Thursday.
Surgery? Say what? Yes. Surgery. Again. In less than 6 months. Three surgeries within 12 months. Well, I'm not complaining. Actually, I am looking "forward" (I use that word very loosely) to the surgery in hopes that what Dr. Smith did NOT CATCH during his arthroscopic surgery and his not ordering an MRI, will be repaired. I went to UVA for another consult. My first one was with a friend of ours from church, Jerry....a P.A. who knows me and was eager to help me and always willing to return my many phone calls. The first thing he did was to order and MRI....the MRI showed a possible tear as well as a possible bicep tear. THIS explains why even after months after surgery I am still in pain....sometimes not even bearable (it wakes me up at night). So, I followed the recommendations of continuing therapy for a few weeks, but it did not improve anything at all. So now, the option is surgery to repair a bicep tear and to see how bad my rotater cuff is. Dr. Didech will perform the operation with the assistance of Dr. Nelson.
I figured on doing this surgery now for one main reason is that my insurance doesn't run out until the end of the month. My thought was to not wait til I find a full time job, then wait a year for FMLA to kick in and then do the surgery. I just thought it would be too long of a process to wait for and undergo, if I can just do it right away. The surgeons didn't seem too worried that my other surgery wasn't long ago, so I am a ready to feel better again!
So please keep me in your prayers as I face another surgery and the healing process as well. I surely pray that this won't affect any of my stomach issues I've been having (the drs didn't seem too concerned that it would be an issue).
