A weekend get-away!

For the Fourth of July weekend (Saturday-Monday), I decided that I wanted to go to DC/Baltimore and my parents thought it was a good idea as well. We left EARLY Saturday morning to head over to Baltimore. We stayed at Baltimore and arrived there around 10:30am. It was a fun time and a good way for me to get out for a while and try to enjoy myself. The whole trip was fun and I did fairly well....yes, I endured some stomach pains and shoulder pain, but I still enjoyed my time in Baltimore/DC area. After we checked into the hotel on Saturday morning, we rested a little then headed out to the Baltimore pier. I wanted to go to the aquarium since I haven't been there for over 11 years! Boy, has the surroundings changed! For those of you who didn't know, I'm a big fan of marine life and think it is so spectacular and wonderful how marine life lives and takes care of itself. Truly a picture of God's handy work. I love seeing the different kinds of ocean life, especially looking at dolphins and sharks. We got to see a very cook dolphin show as well and I convinced my parents to sit in the "splash" section; however, we didn't get wet! It's amazing how marine biologists and trainers can train dolphins to do certain things---very fun!

On Sunday, we had some dimsum at a Chinese restaurant and then took the metro to the DC Zoo/Smithsonian. The Zoo was opened and we got to see many many many animals. I absolutely LOVE to watch animals and their behaviors. I'm a big Animal Planet watcher....although I love animals, I'm not really into taking care of them as a pet or a worker with animals...I'm more of a "lover to watch animals" kind of person. My favorite thing to see in the DC Zoo is of course, the Giant Panda. I even got a lesson from one of the zoo workers about how China and America works together when dealing with the Giant Panda...very cool! Here I am with Mei Xiang.

It was over 100 degrees at the Zoo yesterday and all of us were so hot...and wearing a sling doesn't help! Which brings me to one other thing...even with my sling on, this random teenage boy wasn't looking where he was going and got so excited to see the panda, that he butted in front of me, shoved me and my "bad" shoulder side.....boy did that hurt. I said "OUCH" and he looked at me as if it was my fault! Man, people can be so rude sometimes. We all were so tired after the long long walks all throughout the day that we decided to just order a Quizno's sub and take it back to the hotel room to eat and call it a day. I had wanted to go see the fireworks on the pier, but we all decided it was just too much and too tiring of a day. Plus at that point, my shoulder was feeling as if it were going to fall off so I ended up laying in the hotel's bed with a HUGE bag of ice on my shoulder!

So, now, I'm recovering from our busy, full days of walking, mini-trip. Overall, I did okay physically though getting bumped into didn't really help me much. I had some stomach issues and will continue to have them---that I knew before we even decided to go on this mini trip; but I didn't want a physical ailment to hinder me from living life and enjoying myself and the family. I'm in some pain today and hope everything calms down soon. Mom just thinks that we were so busy touring this past weekend, I wasn't realizing how intense activity I was putting myself under until I actually slowed down.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth!
