Smiles of Happiness

I'm a blog reader, not just a blog writer.    I am single, and because of my health, most of my blog is about my health and how God uses it to help me draw closer to him.
Many of my blogger friends are married and have kids.   One common theme I've come across is talking about their kids and I LOVE IT I love how the Moms out there talk about their kids and how they light of the room by their kids smiles, laughter, giggles, etc.

Today,  I want to tell you, this weekend, my life, was lighten up by my own grandmothers, smiles.

Sorry for the blurry picture of my grandmother but too many family members were taking pictures of her that their flashes were messing up my Android and I soon gave up, but you get the idea in her smile.    We celebrated Chinese New Year on Feb 10th, Day 1 of the New Year.  In Chinese calendar and tradition, grandma's birthday is the 8th day of the New year.  My cousin (-in-law)   Andy surprised her with this cake; it is a Chinese sponge cake filled with strawberries and chestnuts.  Although the cake was wonderful (with what little I ate), I think what made my grandmother the most happy was seeing everyone whom she loved there.   Unfortunately, my sister and her family was unable to be there for the short time, but she was understanding.   I was very excited that I got to see some of my cousins ("in laws", second cousins, etc") whom I haven't seen in a few years.  I got to see Uncle Joe and Auntie Serena whom I haven't seen since 2010.  My cousin Vincent (Joe and Serena's son) was there with his wife, Jenny.  I haven't seen him for 2-3 years.   An interesting story with him is that he and I share the same birthday and same year.  He is only a few hours older than me.   I'm not sure how the story line goes but either my Mom or Vincent's mom's grandfather was very ill in the hospital. (I think it was my Mom's grandfather).  Anyhow, he thought we were twins!  Vincent and I aren't close cousins but when we see each other, there is always that instant big hugs, great to see you, miss you, type feelings.
Anyway, we were the last ones to arrive at the restaurant.  I helped my grandma to the table and she saw EVERYONE who was invited there.   She was very happy.  I sat her beside Uncle Joe  (to her it is her Nephew; he is my Mom's cousin; and in Chinese tradition he is my Uncle ....I know confusing).  But no matter the relations, everyone is related to each other in one form or another.  We all care and love my grandma.   Most of all....it made my grandmother happy.  And I love seeing her smile.  I love seeing her happy.  And I love knowing that she knows she is well loved and cared for by so many children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great grand kids, etc

So, here's to you grandma.  Happy 88th Birthday.   I'm glad we got to go up to a quick visit with you and celebrate!  Keep that smile on your face because that smile, keeps my heart smiling.....that makes me know, you are okay.  I love you!
