Joy in a Whirlwind of Sickness
In the past 20 days I have been one sick lady. I had a pretty bad sinus infection mid August. When I get them, I usually catch them in time and go to the doctor pretty quickly, but this time, I was trying to see if my body could fight it off naturally because I am already taking so much medication. I finally called my doctor and she sent in some antibiotics and cough medication. I felt better with my sinuses after a little over a week; but I never stopped coughing and then my cough got worse and worse and my chest got tight, and I started to wheeze quite a bit as well as cough up phlegm, and then I started to run a fever (ugh!!!). I didn't think it would be anything since I just finished my antibiotics, so after 4 days of fever and coughing, I went to see the doctor and it was confirmed I have a really bad case of bronchitis (I went to see the doctor this past Friday). I'm on the mend, but still coughing; the doctor says that is what will linger on the most.
Since my sickness in August, my pain level (in all areas: my side and back of head, and neck, and my whole abdomen area) has spiked up extremely high. I've had restless nights at times from the coughing, and especially, the pain which at times spikes so bad that Vicodin doesn't work very well.

But during my being sick, I got a surprise from my Aunt Maypo; her and my Uncle Albert as well as my cousin and her family was in DC 2 weeks ago; they went to the Engraving place to see money being printed. She got me a specialized printed $1 bill represented for the Zodiac sign that represents my sign (Year of the Goat). The specialized number has significance in the Chinese culture. I will cherish it everyday. They gave me this precious gift for my birthday. (And yes, I was sick on my birthday! But I got to just rest and relax on my birthday!
My good friend Liz called me to wish me a happy birthday on my birthday (8/31)....(yes, it felt great to be 21....AGAIN ha-ha!!) Her two kids wanted to talk to me so badly and that made me feel so special and so loved! Her son, 3 years old, said "Happy Birthday Becky". He went on and told me what he got at a yard sale and then told me he wanted to come see me and sing a song to me and then told me he needed to bake a cake for me first! How cute is that? He's such a sweet little kid. I told him he's always welcomed to come visit me but he had to wait to visit me until I was over my bronchitis. His little sister, 2yrs old then talk to me and said Happy Birthday to me too. What sweet little children.
It's the little things in life that fills your heart with joy and makes you "forget" your pain.
