Holding On, Joys, Remembering, Loving

Yesterday, for some reason, I sat down on my bed and suddenly thought of this person:

His name is Warren "Granddaddy" Johnson.  He passed away back in '95.  He and his wife Erma "Grandma" has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and has been to the hospital every time I had surgeries. Erma passed away last year.   Warren would carry me to the prep room, he would hold my hand whenever the nurses would have to do any kind of "thing" to me.   I remember getting surprises after I woke up from surgeries; I remember getting visits.....they both were part of my life.    Yesterday, I just had a sudden meltdown.  ME? at 34 yrs old having a meltdown!!!???!!  YES!  He's known me sine I was a baby.  Yesterday, I remembered all those holidays my family spent together with Warren and Erma along with them and their own children and grandchildren.   I really miss "Granddaddy" and "Grandma" Erma.  I sometimes still feel their presence whenever I have to go to the hospital for surgeries; and I know God is always with me as well; I feel that they are my guardian angels.   I also miss their son, Kirk who passed away earlier this summer.  Their who family means so much to our family.

This month, I was also remembering that the last of my grandparents is no longer with our family as well.  We haven't been up to NY to celebrate Christmas for a long time because we never know about the traveling conditions or we try to make it up to for Chinese New Year.  We still call on the phone, but this year there will be no calls to grandmother.   It hit me a few hours ago.   I was going through my cellphone numbers today because I was noticing I had a lot of duplicate numbers.  As I was going through it, I noticed I had not deleted my grandmother's home phone number, cell phone number, her nurse's number, her home health agency number, etc. I deleted all of this.  I'm thankful we are still close to my Mother's siblings and their families, so that we can enjoy holidays together even if it is just a phone call away.

Embrace your love ones, not just during the holiday seasons; but every day.
