My 2013.....Hard Times......GOOD TIMES
For all of you who knows me well (that is knows me since I was a child), know that I have always had health issues since I was born and have had countless surgeries since I was a year old....I think my doctor looked it up and told me I probably had at least about 55+ surgeries in my life.
For those of you who keeps up with me on my blog, email, or facebook, knows that for the past 4 years, I have battled with severe health issues (technically, these issues started when I was in high school, and slowly progressed to getting worse). I'm not going to go into details because it is all on my blog. You can read it yourself or re-read it yourself. I haven't been able to work since 2010, yet the Lord provides as I continue to need to see doctors and medical procedures.
As you can read, re-read, remember, or whatever.....or I can quickly refresh your memory, I've been through so many doctors, tests, procedures, etc. It gets "old". It gets "tiring." It gets "too much knowing the drill." I get frustrated too often and upset so much when all I hear from test results or from the doctors "we can't figure what is causing all this pain"
All the pain: head/neck......abdominal pain along with nausea. These pain that gets in the way of life. I had to miss out on my friend's wedding last Saturday because of the overwhelming nausea and abdominal pain I was going through. It was so bad I couldn't really do much, the room was spinning. Since then, I haven't felt much better, except I'm not dizzy anymore. The pain is still there; this time my heart hurts. I am tired of this. I cry often because I just don't understand; no one does; and I cry alone in my room because I can't cry in front of anyone else.......
.............BUT THEN......
God reminded me of some good times, positive things I did have this year.
A Wonderful Church
I can't begin to express how much CPC has been a blessing to me over the years. As I look back, I can't imagine how I could have gone through these years without many prayers from my church family. It has been a blessing to me and I'm grateful for being part God's Family and CPC.
Joys of Little Children
I love seeing my nieces whenever we go over for a visit or whenever they come for a visit. They truly make me smile. I also enjoy seeing my cousin's children (also my nieces in Chinese tradition). I got to see them over my birthday weekend; they came down to the DC area to visit so we met them there. The little one always asks for me and will occasionally call me on the phone. This really makes me smile! I love participating in the nursery as the PIC on the 5th Sundays. It's a joy to see all the children; I love their hugs, I love holding them and re-assuring them that things will be okay.
Joys of Friendships
Even though there were points of frustration, getting lost, horrible food at every restaurant we chose, I will always savor the time spent with my best friend and "little sister" Gigi when we went to the Beth Moore Conference in West Virginia in September. It is something that just blew my mind. I so much enjoyed hearing her in person
My BESTIE friend came down and over (she moved to Alaska after getting married) with her 14 mo old son to go to the same wedding I was suppose to have gone to. Keren and I were able to spend some time together which was really nice. She's such a great friend and I really hope I can see her one day soon in Alaska if I ever have the funds to go or have the health stamina to go.
Good Doctors
I'm grateful I'm still under the care of my wonderful surgeon, neuro--ophthalmologist, and neurologist over at UVA. I couldn't ask for a better set of doctors. I'm praying that this new set of doctors at Augusta (Pain Management and GI) will be able to help me out as well. I know that God is in control no matter what.
Like you, I don't know what 2014 holds. But I do know that with God's hands to hold, the path will be much easier to cross.
Happy 2014 to you all!
