New York Moments
Last week, September 4th-10th, my parents and I were able to make a trip to celebrate my cousin, Jared's wedding. This is the cousin on my Dad's side of the family. Overall, our trip went fairly well. The trip up took a lot longer than anticipated due to the high volume of traffic; but of course that was to be expected due to it being a holiday weekend. My health and pain level probably wouldn't have been much different than if I were to be at home. Our plan to even go on this trip wasn't fully decided until about a month or so before the wedding, due to my increased pain levels and health issues over the past several months. We were all very glad that we were able to go and celebrate. I did have some days of not feeling very well at all and then days where I was able to enjoy time with my parents, cousins, and family.
Going to NY has always been visiting relatives and spending time with my grandparents; we never really had *time* to enjoy the sites around the area because we were always so busy with family. I love my family and it will always feel weird going to NY and not being there to visit any of my grandparents, except by gravesides. This past time, we were able to have time to visit family and have open times to do "other" things. We left our schedule open because activities were really based upon how I felt and how much I could endure the day. My family and I stayed in Manhattan and mostly left our car where it was and took either the subway or CoNNection bus to places, just because it was much easier. Among the many things we did, my cousins were able to get us into the Liberty Science Museum. If anyone knows me well at all, you know how much I love all types of Science, so this was so much fun for me. It covered so many topics of science and much more. I loved it. It's so well rounded that, you literally need a whole day to be there, and we were there for 4 hours and still had not covered the entire museum (I would have stayed longer, but I was beginning to feel as if I needed to leave). Another day, my family and I walked around Rockefeller Center (I've been there before), and we stopped by the Lego store because I wanted to buy some gifts for my nieces and my cousin asked me to pick up a Lego set for her. Right across the street from the Lego store is the famous St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Monday, the 7th, was my cousin Jared's wedding. Many of you probably saw on FB that I requested prayers. The previous two days, I had decent days and that particular day was very rough. I was in a lot of pain and nausea. I took some medication and I was able to pull through for most of the afternoon and up until early night. We left around 8pm as I wasn't able to continue much longer than that. It was really great to see my aunts and my uncles and my cousins, etc. I haven't seen my Aunt Lynn (Jared's Mom) for a long while and it was so good seeing her again. I absolutely, LOVE Jared's now bride. She's full of life, spunk, and sweetness.
The wedding was wonderful!
We really didn't have a set day/time to leave NY (as I didn't know this). I was just told to make sure I packed *enough* clothes in case it gets either too hot/sweaty in NY. Mom was really basing the length of stay on how well I was doing. I kept trying to tell her that it didn't matter where I was because either way, I would probably be feeling the same wherever I was; but I think she was just feeling safer if I were closer to my own doctors!
I did know that Tuesday we were going to see my Uncle Nelson (Mom's brother) and go to the cemetery to visit the relatives; but I had no clue if we were leaving Wednesday or Thursday. My parents had "talked" about a Broadway show several times over the years that we have gone to NY and have brought up the topic again this time. I never really took it seriously, since the last "zillionth" time they talked about it, we really never went to see a show. Tuesday evening, we decided to stay another night (still not knowing what to do on Wednesday); Wednesday came, and my cousin talked my parents into taking me to a Broadway show as a late birthday gift. As most of you know, I don't make a big deal about my birthday and my parents know it. I don't asks for gifts, but I like memorable vacation/outings to places. It was decided that we would see Aladdin the Musical. And...OH. MY. GOODNESS. It was so good, and well done. Complete with real magic as well. It is an experience I'll never forget!

It was definitely, "A thrilling chase and a wondrous place!"
The trip was nice and I always love being able to see family and spend time with them. It's always nice to be able to see my cousins and my aunts and uncles.
